3 Recipes Every Grill Master Needs to Know

July is National Grilling Month, and whether you’re a grilling novice or a self-proclaimed pro, this is the perfect time of year to gather friends and family for a backyard barbecue. In the spirit of this month’s festivities, we’re detailing three recipes every grill master needs to know.

Homemade Rib Dry Rub

If you love ribs, then we have a recipe for you. This homemade dry rub pairs wonderfully with ribs and is sure to elevate your backyard barbecue experience.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons salt

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon cumin

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 tablespoon brown sugar

¾ tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Transfer to an airtight container to store.

Homemade Barbecue Sauce

What proper grilling feast would be complete without barbecue sauce? This sweet and savory sauce is a staple in many grilling recipes, yet most people reach for the store-bought stuff rather than making their own. However, making your own homemade barbecue sauce is quick and easy and yields tasty results.

Ingredients

2 cups ketchup

1 cup water

¾ cup apple cider vinegar

4 tablespoon brown sugar

½ tablespoon freshly ground black pepper

½ tablespoon ground mustard

½ tablespoon onion powder

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Directions

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally for one hour.

Barbecue Chicken Pizza

Barbecue sauce. Chicken. Pizza. Need we say more?

Ingredients

Olive oil

1 cup red onion, chopped

1 ½ cups chicken breast, shredded

½ cup chicken stock

½ cup marinara sauce

¼ cup barbecue sauce

3 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced

¼ cup green onion, chopped

Pizza crust of your choice

Directions

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and lightly grease with olive oil. Saute red onion for five minutes or until translucent. Stir in chicken, chicken stock, marinara sauce, barbecue sauce and cook for five minutes, or until heated. Remove pan from heat and set aside. Form your dough into your preferred size crust, and add the sauce. Place the sliced mozzarella evenly and bake the pizza for 10 minutes, or until cheese melts. Remove pizza from the oven and top with green onion.
